Holy Hour-hand, Batman!

Well, that old idea of concentrating on my "extra" stuff and not quitting - well that went out the window as soon as Baby Alex started to walk.  I know---I'm surprised as 'Ole Kirk here.  Don't get me started.

How long has it been since I was on this thing?  Toooooo long, and for that, all I can say is sorry.  Oh well, time and water under the bridge an d all that.  I have been busy.  Not just your average, cookies in the oven and toys to clean up busy, but B. U. S. Y.  Lesson plans-grades-report cards-learning new curricula-walking-mess making-gotta-keep-the-toddler-out-of-the-bathroom kinda busy.  Whee!

My grade level has decided to give the math portion of Engage NY a try.  All I can say is OH MY GOSH! That thing uses a ton of paper!  But, I can see the benefit already in how my students are thinking about math - which isn't that the main purpose of the idea of "teaching"? That being said - I like it.  I would like to try next year only this time from the beginning.  I really wonder what will happen - will those dreaded test scores go up?  I would like to think that yes, they would.   But there is soooo much to still do before spring break and then theres even MORE stuff to do before summer.  The life of a teacher is never easy, but it's also never boring either.

Well, I'd better go check if Bean is still sleeping or if my day picking up toys, stepping over pots and pans in the kitchen, and chasing after a little boy who this its great fun to sneak into the bathroom and turn on the faucets will continue.

I'll try not to let this much time pass by before I return.

Until then, Live Long and Prosper!
